Kathy's Sharing

July 30th, 2024

All started in 2017 Christmas when I got this special gift from my secret angel in Saddleback HK. I searched its name online and found its called 酢漿草, with a nickname called “purple butterfly” as their leaves look like butterflies. Both the leaves and flowers open in daytime and close in night time.

It was my first time taking care of a plant, as expected the leaves went withered one by one when time flew. I was very upset.

When I saw the last leaf started to withered, I tried to cut it off and immersed the end of the stem into water. Surprisingly I found some new roots coming out few days later, it even grew much stronger after placing them into new soil.

I love this purple butterfly so much as it is very beautiful and also energetic to open and close everyday. I cut some of the leaves and put them in my clinic. My colleagues, nurses, friends and even some of my patients would quickly spot its presence and would also ask for some leaves to take back home. So I shared to them and later received their photos one by one which showed how they grow into different individuals.

I was amazed to find that those leaves came from the same plant, but they grow into such a variety of outlooks. It just like we are the children of god, He made each of us a unique appearance and different characters. That’s the wonderful joy of life.

This is my special experience with this little purple butterfly. Planting it also brings therapeutic effects, I got sharing from my patients who see hopes when roots coming out from the stem, some of them are delighted when flowers are shining to them, and some of them are empowered when they the leaves and flowers open and close everyday.
